Maddie and Mommy Day!!!

Maddie starts Preschool tomorrow!!!! She is so excited and was able to go on Friday for an hour to meet her teacher and some of her classmates. We bought her a new back pack and lunch box and she has been so excited about going! That excitement lasted until we walked through the door! I could tell she was getting nervous, but she didn't cry. She just held onto my hand and stuck a few fingers in her mouth. When I came back to pick her up she was all smiles! She has talked a lot about her teachers Ms. Amy and Ms. Ashley and can't wait to play on the playground!

Since I knew Friday was a big day for Maddie, we made plans just the two of us. She got to pick where she wanted to eat (Mo's won), then we shopped for new tap and fall shoes, and ended the afternoon at the Movie Theater where she had dippin dots and a sprite! It was so nice for us to just spend the day together and celebrate the fact that she is starting Preschool. Turner spent the day at Ney Ney's and had a good day there as well! I will be sure to update on how tomorrow goes! Kevin actually took the day off so that he could take her on her first day and I will be picking her up. Then starting Wednesday, Mimi will be taking her in the morning and I will get her in the afternoon!

Go Wildcats!!!

Football Season is in full swing and we have been a little better about going to the games this year! Kevin and I took both kids to the Jamboree a few weeks ago at Arlington. The key to everyone having a good time is----FOOD! As long as there was something to munch on, the kids were content. It was super hot that night so we didn't stay the whole. The next week Kevin took Maddie to a game at Bolton and Turner and I stayed home. Maddie was able to get on the field and had fun playing with her friend Jackson.

Yesterday, Kevin's parents came down and we all went to watch him coach the freshmen at Bartlett. Meg's, David, and Boo Boo also came to support him. It was a morning game and it took all of us to keep Turner entertained and keep him from sliding through the bleachers. I think it was Nonna that said a father definately did not design them. They are so dangerous for toddlers!! Marci gave Maddie the cutest outfit for Christmas last year to wear to support the Wildcats!! She wore it to a game and I wanted everyone to see-Thanks Marci, she was given lots of compliments that night:)

Sprinkle Park Fun!!

I have had a difficult past few days. It hasn't been a fun week....but I have great kids and great friends, and being able to spend the day with both has really improved my mood!!!! My friend Kelly suggested meeting at the sprinkle park to let the kids play. My friend Rachel and I had wanted to get the kids together as well. So we all decided to meet there and the kids had a blast. Rachel's husband Cameron joined us which was an added bonus!! It was Turner's first time and Maddie hasn't been this summer. With school being back in session it wasn't crowded and that made it much easier to watch the kids. I was able to visit with my friends while my kids wore themselves out and had a great time!

Kelly and I took the kids to McAllisters for lunch afterwards and it went pretty smoothly as well. Turner was on his best behavior, cleaned his plate, and flirted with his little friend London. Maddie got sick to her stomach but has been fine ever since and enjoyed her day. It was a fun way to spend the day!!!

Busy Busy Busy!!!

Where has the time gone? I get on here daily to read other blogs and just realized it has been over 2 weeks since I posted anything. So much has gone on it all seems like a blur. Football season STINKS!! I miss having Kevin around and by the time I get the kids in bed, I don't even think to come upstairs and get on the computer. The school year is in full swing along with several activites with the kids. Maddie has begun her second year of dance and joined the choir last week at church. Myself and the kids have started going to Church on Wednesday nights and I have really enjoyed going. We eat there and then Turner gets to play and Maddie sings and does Mission Friends while I hear Brother Jerry preach. Once Football season is over Kevin will be able to join us. Turner seems to have a hard time being away from we while at church but it is a work in progress. Eventually I assume he will begin to enjoy himself:)

My sister had her first wedding shower last weekend at Church and had a great turnout!! She received a ton of great gifts and her wedding activities are in full swing! Maddie and I are going to a shower tomorrow for her at Pitty Pat's. Nonna is coming into town and is going to take Maddie home with her for a few days. Maddie wants some one on one time with Nonna, so Turner is staying at home this visit. That will give us some one on one time with him which will be good as well. Maddie starts preschool in another week, so this a great time for her to go. I can't believe my baby is going to school. It is unbelievable that in 2 months she will be 4!!!

Maddie has been having some skin issues which lead us to a dermatologist last week. I think we are getting everything under control, but I feel like it is ALWAYS something. I definately need to work just to pay all our doctor bills. Turner has turned 18 months old and is a hoot!! He has the funniest facial expressions and loves to say NO! Our latest issue with him has been keeping him in his bed. I was getting to where when he cried I would give him his paci and if he still cried, would scoop him up and put him in our bed. There have been several nights where he wakes up yelling "moma", I go in there and he is gathering up all of his belongings waiting on me to get him. Smart kid.....and as soon as I get rested, I am going to put a stop to it:)

The kids have been playing together relatively well lately. Their favorite thing to do is have tea parties (which kills Kevin) and play with pretend food. The both have learned to clean up the toy room and for a small price (a dollar), will do it without complaining. They are doing great back at Jene's and more often than not, I have a hard time getting them out of there in the afternoon.

My lack of posts have not been due to lack of activity, just lack of time. But I am about to make up for it. Lots coming up in the next few weeks!

He Came Back!!!!

We love him! We saw him this afternoon, immediately went outside, and chased him right back out the gate:) So till next time.....

Chuck E Cheese

Well, tomorrow is the start of a new school year and I suspect some craziness in our house for a while. I am hoping to get back in the swing of things fairly quickly and figure out our new routine. We wanted to do something fun with the kids today and decided to take them to Chuck E Cheese after Turner took his nap. Turner has only been twice before and just isn't real sure about everything. He would want to get in a ride, but shortly after it started would be ready to get off. Maddie had a blast!! She loves doing it all and wasn't ready to leave. We figured out you don't have to actually eat there to play the games. So....our adventure cost us a whole $6 and I am sure we will be back soon!

The Arwood's Come to Play!!

We had such a fun play date on Friday. My good friend Kelly lives in Somerville and we don't get together nearly often enough!!! She has a fun 15 month old, London, and a 2 month old, Cade. She is still on maternity leave so she brought the crew over Friday to play. Most of our play dates consist of kids closer to Maddie's age, so this was a real treat for Turner! I think he loves him some London:) Maddie was a sweet mother hen and Cade enjoyed either being held by mommy or me, or sleeping in Turner's bed. We had a picnic on the floor in the kitchen and the kid's played for a few hours. Kelly and I had a chance to catch up and visit-it was a very enjoyable Friday!!! I hope we can get together with them again soon.

Our friend the Rabbit!

It seems a rabbit has taken residence in our backyard. I will find Turner just standing at the window of the kitchen watching him. We have seen him quite a bit so we decided last week the nice thing to do would be to feed him. We took some lettuce out back and a cup of water since it has only been 110 degrees outside this past week. We made a huge deal of taking care of our rabbit friend.......and haven't seen it since!!!! Every day we look for the rabbit-I really wanted a picture of him eating the treats we had left him and so far no such luck. I am going to keep looking and I am sure the kids will too!

Capturing Sweetness (and a new attitude)!!

Boy do I have a lot to say. Things at the Wilkes house just seem to be moving at a very fast past. I have several things I want to blog about-our friend the rabbit, my cousin got married, Nonna came for the weekend, but I will save that for another night. This has been a difficult week for me. This time of year always takes a little bit of adjusting and this year I think is going to prove to be even more of one for me. We go the whole summer with Daddy being home ALL the time, and before you know it both school and football start back at the same time. And this year I am doing it with a very active 3.5 and 1.5 year old. Daddy started having football every night last week and then tomorrow goes back to school. I now have to get back in the routine of waking up at 4:45 in the morning and getting myself and two little tots out the door by 6:30. By the time I get to work I am usually ready for a nap!! Then when I get home, I will be on my own till Daddy gets home. I laugh at myself because most husbands do have to work past 2:15:) It makes me realize how lucky we are to have such an involved husband/daddy and how much I appreciate everything he does for us.

I think coming back from Kentucky I was a little down in the dumps about the way the weekend went with Turner. It was very frustrating to me getting ugly looks from strangers and not being able to control my very cute and usually sweet almost 18 month old. I was angry at myself and sadly felt it being directed toward my children. So the beginning of the week was a little rough. I would come home from work, Kevin would leave. I would start counting down the minutes till I put the kids to bed. It was not FUN!! By the middle of the week, I was even angrier at myself for feeling this way. Here I am wishing I was a stay at home mom and not even enjoying the precious time I could be spending alone with my kids! So.....around Thursday (it sadly took me that long) I had a major turn around and came home with a whole different attitude. Let me tell you-my attitude contributes GREATLY to my children's attitude and their behavior. We had the BEST night!!!!! It was so nice just being home and enjoying them and not worrying about everything else that is going on around us. I love Maddie and Turner more than I ever thought possible and we are prepared to tackle football season and are going to have fun doing it!!

That being said-I am going to enjoy some one on one time with the kiddos tomorrow while Daddy goes to work and I stay home. They both went to the doctor today and we are doing breathing treatments, passing Dimetapp and Tylenol out like it is going out of style, and treating Turner for staph infection on his knee. I am praying the kids sleep through the night (we didn't do a lot of that this weekend) and are able to start back at Jene's on Tuesday. I hope they feel ok and I plan on giving out a lot of loving and just enjoying them. Tonight they were so sweetly playing together and I managed to capture a picture or two. There will be more updates in the next day or so, but I am calling it a night and going to try to get some sleep:)
