Park Time

It has been such a hot summer, I feel like we haven't spent a lot of time outdoors unless it was in a pool. I always worry so much about the kids asthma and don't want to trigger any sort of problem. So....there haven't been as many trips to the park as normal. Kevin did take them one morning this week and managed to get a bunch of cute pictures that I wanted to share!

KY Lake 2010

Fun Times, stressful times, exhausting times.....but mostly just Fun Times!! We went on our annual KY trip with Mimi, Boo Boo, and Megs this past weekend. Maddie absolutely loves going to "tucky" and couldn't wait to get there. She doesn't swim with her floaties at all now and spent 3 days swimming all over that pool. Boo Boo joined in the fun this year and swam with everyone in some nice looking pink goggles:) Mimi actually got in the pool as well which usually doesn't happen. So pool time definately equaled family fun time!!!!!!
A few more fun times included several crafts that Maddie made while we were there, Maddie Daddy and Boo Boo fishing, and eating at Patti's and Turner's amazement with all the animals outside. Maddie and Turner both enjoyed playing on the playground at Patti's and getting metal magnets from the gift shop. The adults (minus me) enjoyed playing cards after the kids went to bed at night. I chose to go to sleep with them:) I love that we go every year, make so many memories, and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!!
But.......there were a few stressful moments.....or lets just say every time we sat down to have a meal everyone prayed that it would go smoothly. Our little Turner man is just the cutest thing ever in our eyes. He can give you the sweetest hugs and kisses, and for the most part is an absolute joy to be around. Our little Turner man is also loud......very very LOUD.......and screamed at most of the restaurants we went to. We received stares, dirty looks, and after most meals I just wanted to cry. But we did survive it. He is almost 18 months and we are trying to figure out the best way to handle everything. I know this too shall pass, and boy am I ready!!

For the most part, KY Lake 2010 was a big hit and we can't wait to go back again next year. Thanks Boo Boo and Mimi!!! Here are some pictures from the weekend!

Weekend Review-no pictures (yet)!!

It is only Saturday but we have had a busy two days! Friday was the end of Vacation Bible School at church and the kids + Kevin had a blast. Kevin was recruited to work in the gym all week and although was tired, I think he had a good time. While jealous, I am so glad that he is at home with the kids during the summer and able to help out at church when needed. For the end of VBS there was a mechanical bull and horses for the kids to ride. I think Maddie rode a horse three times. She loves and we are hoping to let her go horseback walking when we go to Kentucky this coming week! I was off work yesterday but stayed at home to work on the kids clothes for Kidstown. I always buy quite a bit of their clothes at that sale and try to make some money by selling their stuff from the past season. After VBS I met the family along with several friends from church at Stevie B's for lunch. We all love eating there and Maddie and the kids were able to play some games after lunch. We came home, put Turner to bed, and Maddie and I hit the pool. We swam for about an hour and she never once put on her floaties. She did a great job!!

When we came in, I had a text message from my cousin Em. She and Ellie were in town and wanted to get together. I was thrilled!!! They came over for a short visit and it was great seeing them both! I haven't seen Ellie since Easter and she has grown so much in 3 months. Maddie was a little momma hen and wanted her to sit in her lap the whole time. Mimi and Megs came over as well and had a good time. I took some pictures with my camera but didn't realize till the end that my memory card was upstairs. So, in order to download the pics I have to find my USB cord and it is missing at the moment. I will post pictures from the afternoon as soon as it shows up!! My kids started melting towards the end of the visit, giving Em a glimpse of what life might be like for her in another year of so. Ellie seems to be a pretty laid back chick though so maybe not:) I am so glad that our kids are close in age and hope that they grow up knowing each other pretty well!!

That brings us to today. It was hair cut day for the Wilkes family. Kevin and Turner had their hair cut this morning and Maddie and I spent the afternoon with Margaret getting ours done. We were there for 2 hours and Maddie does so well when we go. We pack a snack, Leapster, and colors, and she is set. Everyone was telling her how pretty her hair was and she was just eating it up. I love having a daughter and knowing that we can do all the "girly" things together, while Kevin has a little buddy at home to do the same. (except they can do "little man" stuff:) We decided to try IHOP for dinner and then were going to go to Chuck E Cheese to play games. Well, we made it to IHOP and then headed home. When Turner wants something, he doesn't point or politely say please, he SCREAMS at the top of his lungs. It is embarrassing and it happened tonight-a lot! Maddie also was being quite the sensitive one, and cried several times. Not such an enjoyable dinner and reminded us again why eating out just isn't fun. We decided it was time to go home and get ready for bed. So....for the most past we have had a good weekend and the kids are sleeping soundly. We have church tomorrow and Maddie and I are going to a baby shower tomorrow afternoon. Fun Times!!

We love some Treybug!!! (and his mommy too)

Maddie had her friend Trey over last night. I started calling him Treybug when he was a baby and that is what Maddie calls him too-so cute! She knew that he was coming over yesterday and about drove me crazy till he got here. They play so well together and I love catching up with Mary. I had bought some things for them to paint, so they worked on that for a while. Afterwards they ran around while Turner chased after them. Everyone had a good time, and I can't wait to get together with them again!!

Ouch!!

Turner...always into everything, always hurting something. Sometimes it is his fault, sometimes I think we don't watch him hard enough. My memory sure isn't what it used to be, but I just don't think Maddie was quite into everything like he is at this age. I know I save him from some serious hurts several times a day. A few days ago I missed. I simply was putting some dishes in the dishwasher from the sink and next thing I know Turner is on the floor screaming, I mean SCREAMING!!!!! His leg was in the air and he was holding it and screaming! I think the "Young" side of my children have a flair for theatrics. He had gotten a can of Pork and Beans (my new favorite meal thanks to Kim) and dropped it right on his big toe. I know it hurt him, but it took us a good 45 minutes to even begin to calm him down. It landed right on top of his toe nail and it instantly turned black. My poor Mans!!

I think it might take two times before he learns his lesson. This is the second time he has done this, but I think this time might have made more of an impression. He has also burned his hand twice with my flat iron, the second time resulting in a trip to Urgent care. Mommy definately learned a lesson after that one. He definately keeps us on our toes-never a dull moment at the Wilkes's house!!

My little Fish!

Maddie is getting braver-she can swim without her floaties, but is still hesitant to do so when she can't touch the bottom of the pool. Kevin got her in the pool Sunday afternoon and they practiced. She can hold her breath underwater forever!! She spent a lot of the time by the ladder, but I did get a picture of her swimming to daddy. We are so proud of her and she is constantly amazing us with all that she can do. I often forget that she is only three and cherish these days with her. They are going by way too fast!! Here is our little fishie in the water with her daddy.

Gabbey Turns 4 at.....Pump it Up!!!

Today we helped Gabbey celebrate her 4th Birthday at.......where else but Pump it Up. I must say that is quite the place to party these days. I think this will be our fourth party there this year. And....Maddie is really wanting her party to be there this year. At first I was thinking that it would be easy on me and I know all the kids and even adults have fun there. But...now I am thinking I really want to do something different and am kind of hoping I can change her mind over the next few months. I stressed a lot about her party last year, but enjoyed getting everything for it together and liked that it was a little different. So we shall see.

Back to today-most of our Sunday School Class was there and the kids had a blast. We always leave there exhausted and Turner took a long nap when we got home. Gabbey got lots of great gifts and I think really enjoyed her day. We love being able to spend time with our friends from church and are so glad we all have kids the same age. Maddie ran around like a wild child the whole time and Turner gets into it more and more each time we go. Fun way to spend the day and I have a few pictures from the day. I don't know why I post them each time, because they all really look the same, just different outfits:)

4th of July Weekend!

I feel like we just took a mini vacation. As far back as I can remember, I have never spent the 4th of July in Savannah. It has never fallen where we could go for more than a day or so, so we have always stayed home. This year we went on Thursday afternoon and didn't come back until yesterday!! I missed spending the fourth with my family, but we try to even things out with both sides and do the best we can!

We had a great time. We went swimming for four days straight, went to the river with Jon, Ashley, and their kids, had a big cookout with the whole family at Nonna and Da's, did fireworks both Saturday and Sunday night, and were able to really visit. I actually slept till at least 8:30 every morning and did NOT enjoy waking up at 5:30 this morning to go to work!! I was so upset when I realized half way there that I had forgotten my camera at home. Nonna came to the rescue and took a bunch of pictures over the weekend that I uploaded to facebook and then saved on my computer at home.

A few highlights of the weekend...we had Maddie swimming in Marci's pool without wearing her floaties!!!! I know that she can do it, but doesn't feel comfortable unless she can touch the bottom. Marci's shallow end is 3 feet so she was able to practice and both she and Brayden did great! I was very proud of them. Turner took his first trip to the river and had a great time. He sat in the sand by the water and dug with a shovel just about the whole time. That is what Maddie did last year, but this year she swam in the water the whole time. It is amazing what a difference a year will make. Maddie and Turner both hit records for how long they slept in the morning. Monday morning Maddie slept until 9!!! She was utterly exhausted. Turner slept until 7:30 and Nonna thought he would have slept longer if she hadn't gotten up and moved around.

The kids loved playing with their cousins and I am so glad we were able to go, relax, and spend time with everyone in Savannah. When we got back to Memphis yesterday afternoon we went to my parents house for dinner with Megs and Davids. Since Maddie spent 4 days at Nonna's, she was ready to spend 4 days at Mimi's. We let her spend the night there last night but have both kids in their own beds tonight snoozing away. It was a great weekend!!! We are so blessed to have such a great loving family!!! Here are just a few pictures from the weekend in absolutely no order whatsoever:)
