Friday afternoon we headed to Arkansas with the big kids. Harper stayed with Mimi and Boo Boo since it was such a quick trip. We are so thankful to them for helping with Turner and Harper during this season. We have done a lot of traveling and it can be hard on them. We stopped halfway there for dinner at Nicks BBQ and fish. Weird combination but it was really good!
We got to the hotel close to 8. The meet was in Sheridan, which is a small town with this one motel. Several people decided to stay in Little Rock which was about 30 minutes away, but had more options. The meet was at 8 am and they had to be there at 7:30. We chose to save money and stay right there in town. I just love how the kids view things. This place was so nice that Kev chose to sleep on top of the bed without any covers. There is absolutely no way I would have walked on the floor without socks. Maddie and Turner on the other hand- went on and on about about comfortable the bed was and thought the place was great:) Glad they were pleased!
The main downside was the walls were paper thin and we enjoyed listening to the old lady party next door till after midnight. Thankfully the kids went to sleep fairly quickly and I was the only one that really had trouble getting any sleep. We woke up at 6 and Kev took the kids to eat the free breakfast while I enjoyed a cold shower:) We got everyone ready, checked out, and headed to the meet.
The scores were a bit lower across the board at this meet. Maddie placed 1st in bars, floor, and vault, and 5th on beam. She fell off during a turn. The coaches are trying to tell her to fight for it to stay on, but she always just seems to jump off. It is a .5 deduction and would make a huge difference if she could just stick it out. She was 1st overall in her group and her team placed 1st out of 5. They were all excited!
She scored a 9.1 on floor, 8.8 on beam, 9.25 on bars, and 9.35 on vault. It was pirate themed, and they had cute decorations set up. Maddie received a sword instead of a medal, for being 1st in the all around. As soon as we got home, she and Turner began fighting and it broke in half. Oh the tears! The hot glue gun saved the day.
We headed home pretty quickly after the meet was over. Not a lot to do in Sheridan! We did stop at McDonald's for a healthy lunch:) Trying to save that money! We made it home around 3 and were anxious to pick up our Harper Doodle. She had fun with Mimi and Boo Boo and it was nice to have a bit of time with just the big kids! This was a meet Kev actually was able to enjoy and not worry about keeping Harper occupied. I tend to check out at these things and he tells everyone he is on daddy day care duty:)
Next weekend is Nashville!
Kevin and I met in 1998 at UTM and married in June of 2004. We have three children, Maddie-6, and Turner-4, and baby Harper. Kevin is a teacher and football coach at Bolton High School. I have been able to stay at home with the kiddos for almost two years now and love every minute of it. !!! We attend Ellendale Baptist Church and am so thankful to all of our wonderful family and friends. This is my fourth year to blog and I love recording all our memories!!
