Last Thursday we went to the Journey to the North Pole with our friends, the Dunaway's. It was held in Germantown and there were a ton of activities for the kids to do. Maddie was able to decorate a cookie, write a letter to Santa, and make several ornaments. She also stood on stage for a little while, but was too shy to "shake her booty":) Turner was pretty content watching everything going on around him. We really enjoyed the evening and spending some time with friends until the end.....Maddie had a meltdown, a MAJOR meltdown, a meltdown that had me walking away and pretending I didn't know whose child she was. We will definately never forget it-I really didn't know she had it in her. She was pushing Turner's stroller, we asked her stop, she didn't. We decided it was time to leave and she decided it was time to throw a fit! By the time we got her outside, she was missing a shoe, had received several spankings, and Kevin thought people would think that he was kidnapping her. I thought that the 2's were fun. I think the 3's just kicked it up a notch. But....we will survive, Maddie will learn the right and wrong way to deal with things, and at the end of the day-we still just love our sassy girl to pieces:)
On a positive note, when we got home from dance tonight, Maddie received a phone call. Santa received her letter that she had written and gave her a call to make sure he was reading everything right. Maddie's eyes were huge, and she didn't want to get off the phone with him. She told him to bring Turner "just some baby toys"! That call alone made the Journey to the North Pole totally worth it, 3 year old fit and all:) I posted some pictures pre-tantrum.
We missed our call last night. I thought about Maddie and figured she would love it. That's so sweet!! What a great big sis to think of her brother :)
