The Friday Before....

As always, I am behind but I had to share pictures from Meg's wedding weekend. Friday was a big day as we had the bridesmaid luncheon, manicures and pedicures, and then the rehearsal dinner. Turner went to Ney Ney's for the day and Maddie joined me in all the fun. The luncheon was at Paulettes and everything was delicious and super nice! After that we all went to Royal Nails for our hands and feet and Maddie had a ball. She had her nails and toes painted and acted like such a big girl!! Nonna and Marci came into town for the wedding and to help with the kids. So they watched Turner that night while we went to the rehearsal and dinner at church. Everything was nice and Megs and David were super excited. The rehearsal went great and we were home by nine and got everyone in bed. It was a full fun day spent with Megs as she prepared for her special day!

Asthma Stinks!

We had a pretty low key weekend....we had a girl that needed some extra attention!! I love fall time and have been so ready for it to be here. I forgot how hard it was on my kids when the seasons change. Maddie woke up Thursday morning coughing a little bit. It was month end so I had to work late that night and Kevin had a game. Nonna came into town to keep the kids while we were gone. When I got home that night Maddie was in bed with Kevin wide awake-it was 10:30!! She woke us up at 4:30 coughing a ton and sounding like she couldn't get a good breath. Nonna was here so both Kevin and I went on to work. I called a few times to check on her debating whether to take her to the doctor. Nonna called me at 10 saying she was coughing a lot and running a fever of 100.3. I made the appointment and left work shortly after to go get her and take her on in. I am so glad that I did!!!

Maddie hates going to the doctor....HATES it. She is so afraid every time we go that she is going to get a shot. I think she was having anxiety about it and when we got back to the exam room I almost started panicking. She was very short of breath and I could feel her heart racing. I slipped out of the room and the asked the nurse if she could listen to her because I was nervous. The nurse said that she was struggling but her oxygen levels were still ok. I ended up asking Mimi and Megs to join me since they were in the area. The doctor came in and was great!! He was making Maddie laugh and made me feel much better about the situation. For three days we have been giving her a breathing treatment every 3 hours, even throughout the night. She is on a steroid twice a day that I am going to cut back on tomorrow. She is much better, but we are going to continue with the breathing treatments for a few more days. The doctor said that if she got any worse, we were to take her to the ER-that is SCARY!!!

I am not very familiar with Asthma and am often playing a guessing game on whether or not she is wheezing, is she having a difficult time breathing, etc. etc. I did go out a buy an oximeter, which will tell us her oxygen rate and has made me much calmer. A few times it did get in the 70's but went back up rather quickly. I think that will be a good tool on judging how serious it is. I sure have put it in my purse and check her fifty times a day:) We are going to try and send her to school tomorrow. As long as she doesn't back track, I think we will be ok. I took a picture of her during one of her many treatments-she is a mess!!
We have a busy week ahead of us-the nanny is getting married and we need everyone to be well!!! I am sure that I will have tons to post on next weekend!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!

Today Daddy is officially older than dirt (according to Maddie)!! He turned 31 today and I think he had a good birthday. I let him sleep in this morning while the kids and I made muffins. We brought him breakfast in bed and gave him his gifts. I bought him Halo, a game for the XBox and the kids gave him a year subscription to XBox Live-he was really excited!! Maddie also colored a card for him. We then spent the afternoon celebrating Olivia's birthday at Build a Bear. When that was over we met my parents, Megs and David at Outback for a dinner celebration. Megan and David bought him Metroid-a game for the Wii, and my parents gave him money. It was busy day, but I think he enjoyed it!

Thank you for being the best husband and father I could ever ask for. I hope you enjoyed your special day!!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Olivia!!

Today was a busy day for us. We celebrated a special guy in our lives birthday today-Daddy, and Olivia who will turn 5 on the 30th. Daddy's post will be next. Olivia is Kim's daughter, who I have watched grow up. Hard to believe this is the fifth party of hers we have attended. It was at Build a Bear, which was great because we had never been!! Olivia had a ton of friends help celebrate her special day and I think everyone had a great time.

Maddie was able to build a bear and she picked out an outfit that we bought for her to put on CoCo (she named her herself:) Since Turner is so much younger than Olivia we didn't let him make one-Kim had to pay for each bear. Well towards the end I started feeling sorry for him, so we let him pick out a little friend of his own. It was already stuffed but he is the proud owner of a new puppy! Here lately Maddie has become our shy one. She sticks her hand in her mouth and hardly says a word in different situations. She didn't know many of the kids there today and so we saw the hand in her mouth a lot! I think she enjoyed building her bear though and we will definately go back!

Olivia had a super cute barbie cake, received lots of gifts, and had a great party!!! I am so thankful for Kim's friendship and was glad to be a part of Olivia's special day!!

Chef Turner

He is still cooking, everyday, all the time!! Ignore the mess in the background:)

It's Blue Week!

This week at school Maddie is focusing on the color Blue. They have been doing a different color every week. To be honest I don't know how much Maddie is learning at this point, but I think she enjoys the different activities that goes along with studying the colors. We have to bring in pictures from magazines that are the color she is studying for the week, her show and share item for the week must be that color, and she must wear that color on Wednesday. Tomorrow she is taking her blue doodle pro that she writes on all the time.

My cousin Emily is always showing pictures of her daughter's cute clothes on her blog. I am copying her and posting a picture of the dress she is wearing tomorrow. I bought it knowing that she starting school this year and with the color being blue, it is perfect. I think I paid $12 for it at a consignment sale which makes it that much cuter!!!

Monkey See Monkey Do!

Maddie has a little shadow whose name is Turner, aka Ted, aka little brother. He follows her wherever she may go and tries to do whatever she does. Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes not so much:) But in the teeth cleaning department....it's a good thing! He will not go to bed without standing on the stool with his sister to brush his teeth. Such a good habit he has picked up from her!! Hopefully there will be many more to come...

Bachelorette Party Pics

Megan had a great time at her Bachelorette Party Saturday night. We had a lingerie shower at my house, ate dinner at Rain, and then hung out at Mulligan's for a little while. I can't believe my little sister is getting married in less than 3 weeks!!!! Just wanted to share a few pictures from our fun (and rare) night out!

Quick Hello!

I just got on here to read my friend's blogs and realized I have only posted twice this month!!! That makes me sad but we have just been so super busy lately. We had a busy weekend having both Megan and David's bachelorette/bachelor parties and today Maddie has been sick:( We are playing it by ear whether or not she will go to school tomorrow. I hate for her to miss a day but if there is any way she is contagious, I know we will have to keep her home. I am going to try very hard to get back on here tomorrow and post more with pictures!! I have this printed into a book at the end of the year and hate to not document everything-I must learn to manage my time better!

Delta Fair 2010

Fair Time=Fun Time for the Wilke's family! I am so glad we went. It is so easy to spend a ton of money so we had debated on whether or not to go. I got tickets at work so we could get in free and decided we had to give it a shot!! Both kids had a blast. It looks like Maddie might take after her daddy and Turner might take after me. She rode every ride that she was tall enough to get on and loved it. There was one that made her a little nervous and she cried while on it, but was fine as soon as it ended. She got on the scrambler and when it was over was laughing saying that it made her dizzy. It would have made me throw up!!! Turner got on a little boat ride that he really enjoyed driving and in the end he and Maddie rode it together. It was the sweetest thing!! I love watching them do things together.

We also went in the barnyard where you can feed the animals. We paid a dollar each to receive a cup of food to feed the animals. Well....by the afternoon all the animals are full and you couldn't pay them to eat what was in your hand!!! Maddie was a little aggravated and Turner was just funny. This is where he is acting like me-all of the animals scared him!! I am talking about goats, ducks, rabbits....NOT lions, tigers, and bears:) He wouldn't get two feet away from his daddy and started crying a few times. Poor Turner!

There were several play sets set up that the amish build and were advertising. The kids played on those for a long while. How I would love to put one of those in our backyard!! We had to get some fun fair food, sno-cones, and lemonade before we left. We came home a little poorer, but it was a fun experience for everyone!!
